This section will document the formal project definition:

The owner’s working direction is established: a lightweight steel superstructure constructed around the existing garage, with an upper storage level, integrated south-facing solar roof, low hipped rear cap, exposed exterior steel frame, and metal wall panels placed inside the frame. This direction has not yet been issued as a formal project brief.
Immediate decisions needed
- Confirm the upstairs storage use classification with the City
- Document all storage and equipment loads (including the 1,000 lb trolley/hoist requirement)
- Establish whether the ground-level walkways under new posts require any egress or guardrail treatment
- Finalize the solar integration strategy (integrated roof vs. rack-mounted on top)
